COVID-19 STATEMENT

At AIFF, we stand in arms with our colleagues in the film and TV industries. As we all continue to face unprecedented circumstances, the team AIFF have been humbled by continuing submission numbers, and, as such, we are determined to bring a celebration of independent cinema to the heart of Brisbane.

The Australia Independent Film Festival is first and foremost a competitive film festival.

As of May 01 the festival will take place from 17 – 20 September 2020 as advertised at the Elizabeth Cinema Brisbane CBD.

On August 01 a decision will be made to postpone the screening sessions and awards ceremony if ongoing social distancing rules do not allow for the event to proceed. All entrants and stakeholders will be notified of the decision on this day.

As per our FilmFreeway listing, Semi Finalists and Finalists (Official Selections) will be announced on August 15. Winners will not be announced until the awards ceremony.

As per AIFF's 'Filmmaker Promise' all Official Selection films will screen to a live audience. In the event that AIFF20 needs to be postponed, a new date will be decided and confirmed once permitted. Tickets will then go on sale and all entrants will be advised.

It is not our plan to cancel or run an online screening event instead of the live event. We feel this would be unfair to our entrants, stakeholders and the people of Brisbane.
