2019 AUSTRALIA INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL RULES
The festival does not provide entry fee waivers and does not reply to fee waiver requests.
The submitter has read and understood the rules and regulations and to the best of their knowledge accept all statements as being true. AIFF reserves the right to disqualify any submission without refund of submission fees. By entering you confirm you have created the project yourself, own the rights or have permission from the owner of the content to enter the festival.
The 2019 Australia Independent Film Festival will be held from November 01 to 03 in Brisbane City Australia.
2. ENTRY RESTRICTIONS:
Films that have been released online prior to entry and or the event are ineligible to enter and event organizers must be notified of this.
3. SUBMISSION CATEGORIES:
Projects submitted to the Festival for consideration may apply to just one category. Please select the category that best fits your project. The Festival reserves the right to determine eligibility of any project for any Festival program or submission category. The Festival also reserves to change the entered category if the entry is better placed within a different category.

3. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
SUBMISSIONS ARE ACCEPTED EXCLUSIVELY VIA FILMFREEWAY.
Language (SUBTITLE POLICY)
IF YOUR FILM IS SELECTED for screening at the festival:
-If the film is another language than English it must have English Subtitles.
-English films do not require subtitles.
PLEASE NOTE – Due to time limitations at the event space feature films will not be screened.
**For Submission purposes your film may be in any language. However, if not in English the film must have either English subtitles.
All screenplays must be in English.
Screenplays from across all genres however the following criteria must be adhered to:
1. The Screenplay has not yet been produced.
2. The Screenplay is under 120 pages.
3. No adaptations, must be writer's original work.
4. The Screenplay must be in English.
5. The Screenplay must be a completed draft.
6. The screenplay cannot be under option.
Upon completion of the Festival selection process, the Festival will attempt to contact the Applicant using the contact information provided on the submission form to notify the Applicant of the Project's acceptance status. The Festival disavows any responsibility and will not be held responsible for, any failure to contact the Applicant using the contact information provided on the submission form. It is the sole responsibility of the Applicant to ensure that the contact information provided on the submission form is correct throughout the entirety of the Festival selection period.
The Festival is under no obligation to provide to the Applicant or any other representative of the Project any comments or feedback regarding the submitted Project, any information relating to the manner in which the Project is, will be, or was reviewed; any views that the Festival or any reviewers of the Project may hold concerning the Project; any reasons why the Project, should it not be accepted for exhibition at the Festival, was not accepted; or any other information relating to the Festival’s review, consideration and/or selection process regarding the Project specifically or submissions generally beyond the information set forth in these Rules and Regulations.
The Film Festival Management will establish the schedule of the films submitted. The Festival also reserves the right to designate appropriate category/section for each project.
By entering you agree and accept that the Festival may use entered film titles, log lines, film frames, film photos, productions photos, film posters and segments of the film for event promotion online and or in print media.
The Selecting Committee will be made up of individuals recognized in the cinema world. Individuals who participated in the production or promotion of any of the competing films will not be eligible as jury members.
The decisions of the Jury will be FINAL.
Furthermore, Filmmakers are responsible to adhering to all guidelines and deadlines needed to ensure the highest quality exhibition of their film.
6. OTHER CONDITIONS:
AUSTRALIA INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL DOES NOT provide discounts or fee waivers.
AUSTRALIA INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL DOES NOT pay any screening fees.
AUSTRALIA INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL DOES NOT cover any travel or accommodation expenses.
AUSTRALIA INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL DOES NOT cover any subtitling expenses.
AUSTRALIA INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL DOES NOT guarantee distribution.
AUSTRALIA INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL DOES NOT screen feature films that are selected as finalists due to time constraints. Trailers only will be screened.
AUSTRALIA INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL DOES NOT provide feedback.
7. GENERAL CONDITIONS:
All information above shall supersede any other guidelines associated with the Festival.
The Festival is entitled to make interpretations in any case not considered in these rules and regulations and may make exceptions whenever justified. The Festival Management will review unforeseen cases. Whenever a controversy arises from the interpretation of any of the articles in these rules and regulations, the ruling document shall be the original document in English.
A submitted project implies full agreement with this document. Failing to comply with any of these articles may result in denying the participation of a project in the Festival.
AUSTRALIA INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL has the right to add, alter, change, or delete any portion of the guidelines at any time without notice.
AUSTRALIA INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL has the right to add, alter, change event inclusions and or screening venue.
